AMHERST, N.Y. (AP) -Byron Mulkey's basket with 48 seconds left in regulation keyed Buffalo's 68-64 win over Eastern Michigan Sunday.
Mulkey's jumper, roughly a minute after Eastern Michigan's Carlos Medlock sank a pair of free throws to tie the game at 64-64, gave Buffalo (8-14, 2-8 Mid-American Conference) its second straight win after nine straight losses.
Medlock had a chance to tie the score with 25 seconds left, but his jumper hit the rim. Mulkey, who grabbed the rebound and was fouled by Jarred Axon, sank both of his free throws to seal the win.
Jesse Bunkley led Eastern Michigan (8-14, 4-6 MAC) with 15 points and four rebounds. Medlock scored 12 points with eight rebounds and six assists, while Zane Gay scored 11 points.
Buffalo's Calvin Betts came off the bench to lead the Bulls with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Mulkey had 12 points and five rebounds.
Buffalo led 34-26 at halftime but saw what had become a 10-point lead in the second half evaporate when Gay's 3-pointer gave the Eagles a 57-55 lead with 8:28 left.
