BALTIMORE (AP)Reggie Holmes scored a game-high 25 points and made seven threes to tie a school record on Monday night as Morgan State downed South Carolina State, 81-55.
Holmes shot just 1-of-3 inside the arc, but made 7 of 9 shots from behind the 3-point line.
The Bears (15-8, 9-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) pulled away from South Carolina State (8-16, 4-6) late in the first half, using a 14-4 run over the final 5:19 to take a 43-26 lead into halftime.
Jamar Smith scored nine of his 20 points in the first half to go along with five rebounds. Boubacar Coly added a game-high 13 rebounds.
The Bulldogs, who trailed by as many as 20 in the second half, climbed to within 58-46 with 11:47 remaining after a three-pointer by Everett Spencer. But Morgan State never let the lead dip under 10 points and the Bears put the game out of reach with 3:59 left when Rogers Barnes completed a three-point play to make the score 76-55.
Julius Carter led South Carolina State with 12 points and five rebounds, while Carrio Bennett chipped in 11 points and two assists.
Morgan State has won eight in a row, the most since 1974.
