GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - Going hard to the offensive glass is supposed to standard operating procedure for Northern Colorado.

The Bears finally realized that in the game they played outside the Big Sky Conference.

``I don't know if a bell went off in their head,'' Northern Colorado coach Tad Boyle said. ``We send four guys to the offensive glass and they're supposed to go and do that every time.''

The Bears controlled the offensive glass matching a season high with 22 offensive rebounds and 20 points with them.

Sean Taibi scored 17 points and Neal Kingman added 13 to lead Northern Colorado past Johnson & Wales 84-65 Tuesday night.

``We focused on the rebounds and not going to the glass without putting a body on a man,'' said Jabril Banks, who had 12 points and three offensive rebounds. ``It's just fundamental basketball.''

Taibi, the school's all-time 3-point leader with 247, had three treys for Northern Colorado (11-14).

Andrew Baker led Johnson & Wales (4-17) with 15 points. Eric Daniels added 12 points for the Wildcats, a Division 2 NAIA program that dropped its fifth straight.

``The bottom line is we didn't box out,'' Johnson & Wales coach Jeff Culver said. ``We didn't stay disciplined finding a body.''

Johnson & Wales got within five with 15:50 to play after a 3-pointer by Daniels and a layup from Baker. The Bears responded with an 11-0 run capped by a layup by Kingman that made it 58-42.

The Wildcats got as close as 66-53 on Sasha Pate's 3-pointer with 7:34 left. Northern Colorado went ahead 73-53 on a 6-0 run that included a 3-pointer by Terry Anderson. Johnson & Wales was no closer than 19 points the rest of the way.

Northern Colorado turned seven offensive rebounds into 14 points to lead 41-35 at halftime. The Wildcats stayed within striking distance by shooting 62 percent from the field.

The Bears don't play again until Feb. 20 against Portland State. They are 4-8 in conference and trail both Montana and Montana State (5-5) for fifth place in the Big Sky.
