ELON, N.C. (AP) -Brett James hit 10 of 20 field goals and had a total 22 points to lead Elon to 76-70 Southern Conference win Thursday night over Appalachian State.
The Phoenix (10-15, 8-9) also had 16 points from Montell Watson and 15 from Brian Waters as it extended its win streak to three games.
Elon led 31-21 at the half and never lost the advantage although the score was tied three times and Appalachian outscored Elon 49-45 in the second half.
Donte Miller scored 20 points for the Mountaineers (16-9, 11-5). Kellen Brand and Eduardo Bermudez followed with 12 each. Jeremy Clayton had 11.
