CONWAY, S.C. (AP) -B.J. Jenkins scored five of his 16 points during a decisive second-half run to lead Liberty past Coastal Carolina 65-51 in Big South Conference action Saturday.
The Flames (14-12, 6-5 Big South) hit nine 3-pointers as they shot 44 percent from the field while holding the Chanticleers to just 33 percent.
Liberty put the game away midway through the second half with a 12-0 run to take a 54-42 lead with 7:55 left. The Chanticleers (12-12, 5-6) had come back from an eight-point deficit just after the start of the second half to take a 1-point lead at 37-36 on two free throws by Phil Wallace with 13:55 left. But Liberty answered that challenge with six straight points.
Coastal's Jack Leasure tied the game at 42 on a 3-pointer with 11:57 to go, but Liberty followed with its decisive run over the next four minutes.
Anthony Smith led the Flames with 17 points and TeeJay Bannister added 11 points and a game-high seven assists.
Leasure led Coastal (12-12, 5-6) with 17 points and Anthony Breeze added 14. Phil Wallace grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds and had eight points.
