TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) -Gabe Moore scored 14 points and had seven assists to lead Indiana State over Illinois State 76-72 in the Missouri Valley Conference on Saturday.
Harry Marshall and Jay Tunnell also had 14 points and Marico Stinson added 12 as the Sycamores (12-13, 7-8 MVC) overcame a 13-point deficit with 2:55 left in the first half, narrowing the margin to 40-35 at the break.
Osiris Eldridge led Illinois State (18-8, 10-5) with 34 points, including 7-of-9 on 3-pointers, but the Redbirds, after hitting 5-of-8 beyond the arc in the first half, managed just 2-of-8 in the second period against a tougher Indiana State defense that allowed just 32 points after the break.
The lead changed hands seven times with five ties but Indiana State outscored the Redbirds 16-6 on second-half points. The Sycamores' bench scored 17 points to 12 for Illinois State's.
Moore, who scored 27 points to pace Indiana State in a 76-66 victory over Bradley on Tuesday, made 8-of-9 free throws against Illinois State as the Sycamores as a team went 21-of-26 at the foul line to seal their 11th victory in 12 home games this season.
Tunnell and Illinois State's Dinma Odiakosa tied for the game high in rebounds with eight each.
