DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -Tywain McKee scored 17 points to lead Coppin State past Bethune-Cookman 64-58 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action Saturday.

The win, which avenged an earlier 56-55 overtime loss to Bethune-Cookman, improved Coppin State to 8-19 for the season and 3-8 in the MEAC. The Wildcats, who lost for the third time in their last five games, fell to 10-15 overall and 4-7 in the conference.

McKee, who went 10-for-10 from the 3-point line, scored 13 of his points in the second half when he helped the Eagles overcome a 25-21 halftime deficit.

Julian Conyers and A'Daeron Duncan each scored 14 points for Coppin State.

Jimmy Hudson scored 22 points and Dewayne Pettus added 21 for the Wildcats. John Holmes supported with nine points.

Coppin State took the lead for good, 28-27, on an inside basket by Robert Pressey with 17:18 remaining in the game. Back-to-back baskets by Conyers, the second a 3-pointer with 10:56 left, pushed the Eagles to their largest lead, 43-34.

Bethune-Cookman, behind Pettus and Hudson, cut the lead to two points on two occasions inside the final 5 minutes. But they could get no closer, as McKee and his teammates went 8-for-8 from the free throw line during that segment.
