FAIRBORN, Ohio (AP) -Cooper Land made two free throws with 7 seconds remaining to push Wright State past Illinois-Chicago 52-51 on Saturday night.
UIC's Flames (14-12, 8-7 Horizon League) led 49-43 with 4:07 left after a 3-pointer by Josh Mayo, who led them with 16 points.
But Jordan Pleiman hit a layup for Wright State (19-6, 11-4). After neither team was able to score for more than 2 minutes, Todd Brown, who led the Raiders with 14 points, scored on a tip-in with 1:43 left to cut UIC's lead to 49-47. Brown then came right back with a 3-pointer with 58 seconds left to put Wright State ahead 50-49.
The Flames retook the lead on Scott Vandermeer's tip-in with 19 seconds left.
With 7 seconds left, Vandermeer was whistled for fouling Land, who stepped to the line and hit both shots - his only free throws of the night.
UIC hurried the ball down the floor but was unable to get off a shot.
Vaughn Duggins had 11 points and Scottie Wilson 10 points and 12 rebounds for Wright State.
Vandermeer added 10 points for the Flames, who shot only four free throws.
