THIBODAUX, La. (AP) -Devin Gibson's last-second free throws gave Texas-San Antonio a 54-52 victory over Nicholls State on Saturday.
The Colonels (7-19, 2-9 Southland) led 30-24 at halftime and by as many as 12 points in the second half, keeping the Roadrunners from scoring for the first 5:20 of that period.
But UTSA (10-13, 4-6) outscored Nicholls 30-16 for the rest of the game.
Gibson went to the free throw line with one-half second to go after being fouled by Justin Payne while he shot. He finished with 11 points; Joey Shank added 10.
After he made both free throws, the Colonels tried to heave it down court for a shot, but UTSA knocked the ball away to ensure their win.
Ryan Bathie led Nicholls State with 11 points.
