Kelvin Lewis added 11 points for the Cougars (19-5, 8-2 Conference USA), who led 41-18 at halftime. Dion Dowell grabbed eight rebounds to go along with his seven points.
Bamba Fall, who was 7 of 8 from the field, had 16 points to lead SMU (8-15, 2-8).
The Mustangs shot 35 percent from the field, just 28 percent during the first half. SMU hit just 3 of 18 shots beyond the 3-point arc - 17 percent.
