KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -Tim Blackwell scored 23 points, including 11 in the last 2:05, as Missouri-Kansas City beat South Dakota State 78-73 Saturday night.
The victory broke a four-game losing streak for the Kangaroos (9-18, 4-10 Summit League).
With 2:05 left in the game, Blackwell made a 3-pointer that brought the Kangaroos to within a point at 69-68. A driving layup from Blackwell gave UMKC a 70-69 lead with 1:28 left.
In the last minute, he was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. Blackwell also led UMKC in rebounding with eight boards.
Garrett Callahan had 21 points for South Dakota State (8-18, 3-11). Clint Sargent added 19 points for the Jackrabbits. Kai Williams had 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Ben Beran added 10 points.
Dane Brumagin came off the bench to score 22 points for UMKC, while Reggie Hamilton added 12.
UMKC led 40-36 at halftime in a game that was tied nine times and had eight lead changes.
