CATONSVILLE, Md. (AP) -Ray Barbosa scored 26 points, including the decisive basket on a leaning bank shot with 2:46 remaining, and undermanned Maryland-Baltimore County defeated Boston University 76-73 on Sunday for its season-high sixth consecutive victory.

Reserve Cavell Johnson added 19 points and Jay Greene 14 for the Retrievers (18-7, 10-2 America East), who have their longest winning streak since 2000-01. UMBC has won nine of 11 overall.

Corey Lowe scored 21 points for Boston University (10-15, 7-6), which had a five-game winning streak snapped. John Holland contributed 15 points, Tyler Morris 14 and Scott Brittain 13 for the Terriers, who were 12-for-23 from 3-point range.

Minus leading scorer Brian Hodges, who missed his fourth straight game with a left ankle injury, UMBC used only six players. The Retriever bench was further tested when Justin Fry fouled out with 5:12 left, with the Terriers taking a 65-63 lead on two Brittain free throws.

UMBC's Darryl Proctor hit a pair of tying free throws, but Lowe scored after rebounding his own miss, putting BU up 67-65 with 3:24 remaining. Barbosa knotted the score on a jump-hook with 3:24 left, then put UMBC ahead for good with an awkward, leaning shot from the left side.

The Terriers committed three costly turnovers in the final three minutes, but got within 74-73 on a Lowe 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds left.

The Terriers trailed only 38-25 at halftime, despite starting 4-for-13 from the field. Johnson had 13 first-half points and his twin slam dunks capped UMBC's 10-4 run late in the opening 20 minutes.
