TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -Antwan Harrison's tip-in with six-seconds left lifted Coppin St. to a 69-68 win over Florida A&M in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game Monday night.
The Eagles trailed by one with less than thirty-seconds left, but they rebounded an Akini Akini airball and pushed it the other way. Julian Conyers' jumper from the elbow rimmed out, but Harrison tipped in the rebound and Lamar Twitty was stripped by Tywain McKee at the other end to seal Coppin State's fifth straight win.
Conyers led the Eagles with 16 points and McKee added 15. Coppin St. (9-19, 4-8 MEAC) shot 52-percent from the field and scored 19 points of FAMU's 17 turnovers. Leslie Robinson scored a game high 24 points for the Rattlers ( 9-16, 5-7), who upset the MEAC's first-place team Morgan St., in overtime on Saturday.
Akini scored 18 points and pulled down 14 rebounds, and Twitty added 12.
Coppin St. opened the game on a 17-5 run, but answered with an 8-0 run and a 9-0 during the half to take a four point lead with just over a minute left.
McKee hit a 3-pointer and Vince Goldsberry made a long jumper to put the Eagles up 35-34 at halftime.
