HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) -Whitney Coleman and Yaniv Simpson each scored 15 points as Monmouth held off Fairleigh Dickinson 66-58 on Monday night.
Jhamar Youngblood added 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Hawks (6-20, 3-11 Northeast Conference), while R.J. Rutledge came off the bench to score nine points and pull down seven rebounds. The win also snapped Monmouth's six-game losing streak.
Manny Ubilla had a game-high 19 points for the Knights (7-17, 3-11), while Sean Baptiste added 16 points and eight rebounds and DeJuan Pursley finished with 10 points and 10 boards.
The teams traded baskets for most of the game, with Fairleigh Dickinson holding a 31-30 lead the break. Monmouth, though, took command with a 18-5 run midway through the second half. That gave the Hawks a 55-45 lead with just under nine minutes remaining, and FDU would not get closer than six points down the rest of the way.
Monmouth also won the battle of the boards, outrebounding the Knights 39-35.
