IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) -Cyrus Tate scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Iowa rallied to beat Northwestern 53-51 on Tuesday night.

Iowa (12-15, 5-9 Big Ten) trailed by 14 points in the second half but responded with a 25-9 run to keep the Wildcats winless in conference play.

Northwestern (7-17, 0-13) trailed by two with 14.3 seconds remaining and had a shot to win, but Craig Moore's 3 with 10 seconds left hit the front of the rim. Tate grabbed the rebound, but missed both free throws. Moore had a second shot to win the game, but again his deep 3 hit the front of the rim.

Northwestern hit four 3s - two from Moore and one each from Kevin Coble and Jason Okrzesik - in the opening minutes of the second half during a 19-7 run to build its 14-point cushion before Iowa stormed back.

Tony Freeman hit three 3s and little-used guard Dan Bohall hit one during Iowa's long run. Bohall gave Iowa its first lead of the second half with a steal and a lay-up with 6:46 remaining.

Coble put the Wildcats back in front with a lay-up, but Tate's answered with a lay-up that put Iowa ahead for good with six minutes left.

Moore led the Wildcats with 15 points.
