NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) -Trey Gilder's 15 points led five double-figure scorers for Northwestern State as the Demons won for the fifth time in six games, handily defeating McNeese State 81-71 on Thursday night.
C.J. Clark added 13 points for Northwestern State (12-14, 8-4 Southland Conference), while Colby Bargeman had 11 and Keithan Hancock and Jerry Moody added 10 apiece as the Demons shot 46 percent from the field and a blistering 85 percent (23-27) on free throws.
The Demons never trailed, going up by 10 points for the first time with 6:32 left in the first half and leading 43-31 at halftime.
McNeese (10-13, 4-7) trailed by as many as 17 points midway through the final period and never got closer than the final margin.
The Cowboys, who beat the Demons 85-74 on Jan. 23, picked up 15 points from John Ford, 12 each by Jarvis Bradley and John Pinchon, and 10 from Stephan Martin.
