NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -Justin Hare scored 14 points as Belmont won its eighth straight game with a 74-65 victory Friday over city rival Lipscomb.

Host Belmont (20-8, 12-2 Atlantic Sun) went on an 8-0 run in the second half to take a 59-54 lead and then held on while enjoying a 14-point margin at the free throw line.

Lipscomb (13-15, 7-7), which had won five of its last six, was led by Josh Slater with 16 points, Eddie Ard with 14 and Adnan Hodzic with 10.

Belmont had balanced scoring, with Matthew Dotson scoring 12, Jordan Campbell 11 and Alex Renfroe 10. The Bruins led 29-24 at the half after falling behind 11-3.

The two schools are separated by just two miles, giving their annual two-game rivalry the title ``the battle of the boulevard.''
