Trailing 47-39, the Seawolves (6-21, 3-12 America East) outscored Maine 12-1 in the next 3:30 for a 51-48 lead, and then relied on free throws to hold off the Black Bears.
Mitchell Beauford added 13 points for Stony Brook.
Mark Socoby had 14 and Kaimondre Owes 12 for Maine (7-20, 3-11), which led 27-17 at the half.
