WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) -Tim Clifford scored 26 points, including six in a decisive 11-3 run late in the second half, to propel Holy Cross to a 61-47 win over Northeastern on Saturday.
Greg McCarthy contributed 11 points for the Crusaders (15-11), who played without starting forward Alex Vander Baan.
Eugene Spates had 12 points to lead Northeastern (12-15) while team leading scorer Matt Janning was held to 11, five below his average.
McCarthy scored seven points in the first half as Holy Cross took a 32-21 halftime lead.
The Crusaders pulled ahead by as much as 36-23 in the second half before the Huskies pulled within 46-42 with 4:40 left.
Holy Cross went to its strength, getting the ball inside to Clifford, who scored six in an 11-3 run as the Crusaders pulled in front 57-45 with 2:01 to play.
