ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) -Reid Augst and Bryan Smithson scored 21 points apiece as North Carolina-Asheville snapped a four-game losing streak with an 85-73 victory over Charleston Southern on Saturday.

Augst was 10-of-14 from the field for the Bulldogs (19-8, 8-4 Big South Conference), who set a school record for most victories during the regular season since the teams moved to NCAA Division I. UNC-Asheville won 18 games in the 1997-98 season.

Reserve Kenny George had 15 points, and his three blocked shots set a single-season school record, topping the mark of 86 set by C.J. Walker in the 2003-04 season.

The Bulldogs settled the game in the first half thanks to 61 percent field goal shooting on 19 of 31 attempts, including a 6-for-11 effort from 3-point range. The Buccaneers (9-18, 3-9) hit just 34.3 percent of their shots in the opening half.

Charleston Southern closed a 44-30 halftime deficit to 63-58 on a layup by Giedrus Knysas with 9:02 to play, but the Bulldogs went on a 9-0 run over the next four minutes to shut down the rally.

Vincent James scored 11 for UNC-Asheville.

Chris Moore scored 18 to lead Charleston Southern, which got 17 from Jamarco Warren and 14 points and 10 rebounds from Tovi Bailey.
