NEW ORLEANS (AP) -Jeremy Wise had 27 points, hitting three of five 3-point attempts and 12 of 14 free throws, as Southern Mississippi beat Tulane 70-59.

Andre Stephens added 13 points for the Golden Eagles (15-11, 7-5 Conference USA). Sai'Quon Stone had 8 rebounds and five assists.

Tulane (15-11, 5-7) led 32-31 at halftime, and trailed by only four points, 57-53, when Kevin Sims hit a layup with less than five minutes left in the game.

There were three field goals after that: a 3-point shot by Wise, a jumper by USM's Craig Craft and a layup with eight seconds left by Tulane's Kris Richard. During that stretch, Southern Miss made all eight free throws, six by Wise, and Tulane hit five of six.

Sims finished with 17 points and Richard 15 for Tulane.
