HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) -Evan Hilton scored a game-high 19 points in helping Alabama A&M to a 60-54 win over Southern on Saturday night.
Alabama A&M (9-14, 6-7 Southwestern Athletic Conference) led for nearly the whole game and went into the half ahead 38-24 after shooting 46.7 percent.
Southern (8-17, 6-8) shot 30 percent in the opening half on 6-of-20 shooting. The Jaguars were led by Jack Joseph with 14 points and Chris Davis followed with 13 while Joe Holliday added 11.
Mickell Gladness joined Hilton in double-digit scoring for the Bulldogs with 12 points.
With seven losses each heading into the game, the Bulldogs and Jaguars were two games from last place in the league.
Alabama A&M have now won five of their last seven games while Southern has dropped five straight with Saturday's loss.
