ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) -Jason Wills hit the winning jumper with 0.8 seconds to go as North Carolina A&T beat South Carolina State 77-75 on Monday night.
Wills' game-winner ruined a strong comeback by the Bulldogs (10-18, 6-8 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), who trailed by 18 points in the first half, only to come back to lead 69-63 on a 3-pointer by Jessie Burton with 6:36 left in the game.
The Aggies (14-13, 8-5) finished the game on a 14-6 run as South Carolina State failed to score a basket in the final 3:13.
North Carolina A&T tied it at 75 on Ed Jones' tip-in with 1:51 left.
The Aggies shot 49.2 percent (29-of-59) from the field and made 7-of-18 3-pointers, while the Bulldogs shot 40 percent (30-of-75) overall and 7-of-32 from behind the arc.
Austin Ewing scored 13 points and Wills added 12 points and nine rebounds for North Carolina A&T.
Burton led all scorers with 21 points for South Carolina State, while Jason Flagler added 12 points and nine rebounds.
