NEWARK, Del. (AP) -Marc Egerson scored a team-high 24 points, Herb Courtney added 16 points, and Delaware defeated Hofstra 74-69 Wednesday night.

Egerson grabbed 11 rebounds and had nine assists for Delaware (13-15, 9-8 CAA). Courtney had seven rebounds, and Alphonso Dawson and Brian Johnson contributed 11 points each for the blue Hens.

Hofstra (11-17, 7-10), almost pulled off a comeback as the Pride rallied from 10 points down with 1:21 left before just falling short.

Guard Antoine Agudio led the team with 24 points, becoming the all-time leading scorer in Hofstra history with 2,236 points, breaking the mark of 2,222 by Steve Nisenson in 1962-65.

Agudio hit on eight of 24 shots from the field and eight of nine free throws to post his 16th 20-point scoring effort of the season.
