WASHINGTON (AP) -Reserve Noel Wilmore scored a career-high 24 points on the strength of seven 3-point field goals as George Washington rolled to a 85-68 win over Rhode Island on Wednesday.
Damian Hollis added a career-high 22 points for the Colonials. Wilmore and Hollis combined to hit 10 of the Colonials 13 field goals from beyond the arc.
The Colonials (9-14, 5-8 Atlantic 10) led by as many as 27 points and never trailed against the struggling Rams.
Will Daniels matched Wilmore with a game-high 24 points for the Rams (20-9, 6-8), who have dropped five straight. Parfait Bitee and Jimmy Baron each added 13 points for the Rams, who split the season series with the Colonials.
Leading 25-21 with just over six minutes remaining in the first half, the Colonials extended the lead to 30-21 before Wilmore caught fire. With a Cheyenne Moore 3-pointer sandwiched in between, Wilmore hit four consecutive 3-point field goals, the last one giving the Colonials a 45-23 lead.
Hollis, who shot 8-for-13 from the field, had 14 points in the first half, and his tip in just before the buzzer gave the Colonials their largest lead of the half at 49-25.
After shooting a dismal 23 percent from the field in the first half, the Rams picked up the pace and trimmed the lead to 12 points at 70-58 with 5:22 left in the second half, but could get no closer.
The Colonials have won three straight overall and seven of their last eight games against the Rams.
