COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -Anthony Fisher scored 22 points and Tennessee Tech clinched a spot in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament with a 71-66 victory Thursday over Murray State.
Tech (13-18, 10-10 OVC) took the lead for good 61-60 with 3:34 left on a jumper by Daniel Northern. Fisher made a 3-pointer and two free throws down the stretch to keep the Golden Eagles ahead.
Murray (16-11, 12-7), which had already qualified for the tournament, was led by Bruce Carter and Danero Thomas with 15 points each.
Tech, which led 38-34 at halftime, also got 14 points by Rashaud Nixon, 12 points by Northern and 11 by reserve Frank Davis, who made two free throws with 24 seconds left to make it 68-64.
Tech had a big advantage at the free throw line, hitting 18-of-28 to 7-of-11 by Murray.
