VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) -Shawn Huff hit 4-of-5 from 3-point range and finished with 14 points as Valparaiso beat Detroit 59-56 Thursday night in the Horizon League.
Both teams were fairly evenly matched from the field and the free-throw line, but the Crusaders (18-12, 8-9 Horizon) outshot Detroit from beyond the arc, going 10-of-30 while the Titans managed just 5-of-16.
Jarryd Loyd led Valpo with 15 and Jake Deibler had 11. Urule Igbavboa grabbed nine rebounds.
Josh Samarco had 15 points to lead Detroit (7-21, 3-14), which outrebounded the Crusaders 32-31. Eulis Stephens scored 14 and Nemanja Jokic 11.
Valpo led 20-17 at the break.
