YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) -Carlos Medlock scored 20 points and Jarred Axon added 16 to help Eastern Michigan to a 75-64 victory over Ball State on Saturday afternoon.
Jesse Bunkley also had 14 points for the Eagles (12-15, 7-7 Mid-American), who have won four of their last five games. Eastern Michigan has won four straight MAC games at home for the first time since the 1997-98 season.
Anthony Newell had 15 points and Rashaun McLemore added 14 for the Cardinals (5-21, 4-9). Ball State has lost nine of its last 11 games.
After trailing by as many as 12 points early in the game, Ball State scored the first five points of the second half to take its first lead since hitting the opening basket.
But Nenad Banjanin's short jumper put the Eagles on top for good, 48-47, with 12:34 left.
Ball State's rally fell short in the closing minutes as it was held to just three field goals in the final 4:24. The Cardinals hit 50 percent of its field goal attempts in the game, compared to 47.2 percent for the Eagles.
Eastern Michigan lost starting center Justin Dobbins to an injury to his right knee just 32 seconds into the game during a battle for the ball under the basket. Dobbins, the Eagles' second-leading scorer this season, did not return and his future playing status was unknown, said Jim Streeter, the school's sports information director.
