PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (AP) -Tywan McKee scored 26 points and Coppin State pulled away in the second half for a 85-66 victory over Md.-Eastern Shore on Saturday.
McKee was 7-of-14 from the field for Coppin State (12-19, 7-8 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) and 9-of-11 from the line. It was Coppin's eighth consecutive win and the Eagles had four players in double figures with Julian Convers scoring 13, Antwan Harrison 12 and Robert Pressey 10 and nine rebounds.
Ed Tyson led UMES (4-26, 2-13) with 25 points on 9-of-23 shooting from the field, B.J. Nimocks added 12 and Omar Akram scored 10 and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Coppin State went on a 25-11 run over the first seven minutes of the second half and still led by as many as 23 points with seven minutes left in the game. The Eagles switched defenses often, scoring 22 points off 15 UMES turnovers.
A late run by UMES brought the Hawks back to within 12 points with 3:52 left, but they would get no closer.
