NEW YORK (AP) -Alex Barrett scored 19 points to help Dartmouth beat Columbia 63-48 on Saturday night.
Dartmouth (10-16, 3-9 Ivy League), which had lost eight of its last nine, did not attempt a free throw in the game's first 33:43 but made 14 of 18 over the last 6:17 to earn its second victory in three games after a 7-game losing streak.
John Baumann scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half to lead Columbia (14-13, 7-5) as the Lions tried to rally from a 27-14 halftime deficit.
Mack Montgomery scored 11 points for the Lions and Elgin Fitzgerald had 10 for the Big Green.
Barrett also had a game-high seven rebounds to help the Big Green to a 34-25 edge off the boards.
With Dartmouth leading 52-35 with 2:57 to play, the Lions went on a 12-5 run to cut the margin to 10 with 1:24 left. Barnett hit four free throws around a pair by Jonathan Ball to boost the lead to 63-47 in the final minute.
In the first half, Columbia had an early five-point lead before the Big Green went on a 21-5 run to build their halftime advantage.
