DELAND, Fla. (AP) -A.J. Smith led all scorers with a career-high 23 points to lead Stetson to an 81-64 Atlantic Sun Conference victory over Jacksonville on Saturday night.
Stetson also got 15 points from Garfield Blair and 13 points apiece from Tim Lang and Eric Diaz.
Ben Smith paced Jacksonville with 18 points, while Lehmon Colbert added 15 points and Marcus Allen had 10 points.
Stetson (16-15 overall, 11-5) secured its first winning regular season since it went 16-11 in the 2000-01.
A.J. Smith scored 10 points in the first half as the Hatters built a 39-20 lead. But the Dolphins weren't able to repeat their 19-point comeback they had when these two teams met earlier this season and Jacksonville (16-12, 12-4) won 98-94 in triple overtime.
The Dolphins did make it a 10-point game, 54-44, on Travis Cohn's three-point play with 10:53 left.
Stetson answered Jacksonville's 24-15 run with a 13-3 spurt that included four of the Hatters 11 3-pointers.
Lang, who made a career-high three 3-pointers, had back-to-back bombs to give Stetson a 67-47 lead with 7:05 to play. Stetson's defense limited Jacksonville to 64 points, a season low in conference play for the Dolphins.
