SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -Guard Jordan Brooks made two free throws with 3.3 seconds left in the game giving the University of Idaho a 69-67 win over San Jose State University in a Western Athletic Conference men's basketball game.
The win for the Vandals (8-19, 5-10 WAC) marked the first time in six seasons that Idaho won back-to-back road games, and the first time Idaho swept a regular season series from a Western Athletic Conference opponent since joining the conference in 2005-06. The Spartans (12-16, 4-10 WAC) were unable to get a final shot off to either tie or win the game. Guard Justin Graham, who finished with 13 points, fell as he was dribbling forward just inside the half court line.
Five Idaho players scored in double figures led by forward Michael Crowell's 20 points. Guard Mike Hall came off the bench with 14 and got a key offensive rebound with 33 seconds that set up Idaho's final play for Brooks, who finished with 10 points.
San Jose State, which wiped out an 11-point first-half deficit, was led in scoring by forward Tim Pierce who had a season-high 20 points.
Though the Spartans outrebounded the Vandals, 37-31, Idaho pulled down 17 offensive rebounds in the win.
In a game in which the lead changed hands 17 times, Idaho helped themselves by committing a season-low eight turnovers. San Jose State turned the ball over 16 times which led to 21 Vandal points.
