PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) -Larry Cox scored 19 points to lead Mississippi Valley State to a 54-49 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Thursday.
The Delta Devils (14-15, 12-16 Southwestern Athletic Conference) won their sixth straight game, while Arkansas-Pine Bluff (12-17, 8-10) lost its fourth in a row.
William Byrd led the Golden Lions with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Larry Williams added 14. Carl Lucas scored 17 for Mississippi Valley State.
Both teams struggled from the free throw line - the Golden Lions made just 3-of-9 while Mississippi Valley State made 14-of-23.
