RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Marc Egerson scored 15 points and hit 7 of 8 free throws in the final 4:43 Friday night, leading Delaware to a 60-51 victory against Drexel in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament.
The Blue Hens (14-16) moved on to a meeting with North Carolina-Wilmington in the quarterfinals on Saturday. Drexel finished 12-19 and lost 12 of its last 15 games.
The Blue Hens led 28-25 at the intermission and throughout the second half. Drexel cut the margin to 54-51 with 1:30 left on a 3-pointer by Gerald Colds, but Jim Ledsome blocked Frank Elegar's jumper on the Dragons' next possession with 30 seconds left.
Egerson then hit two free throws and Ledsome had a four-point play to seal it.
Herb Courtney added 14 points for the Blue Hens, and Alphonso Dawson had 13.
Elegar was Drexel's only scorer in double figures. He had 15.
