MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -Jeremy Evans had 16 points to help lead Western Kentucky to a 70-55 win over Arkansas-Little Rock in the Sun Belt Conference semifinals Monday night.
The Hilltoppers, who improved to 26-6, face Middle Tennessee, an 82-73 winner over South Alabama, in Tuesday night's finals at 8 p.m.
Evans led four WKU players in double figures, as the Hilltoppers managed to shoot 46.3 percent from the field. Tyrone Brazleton had 15 points, while Ty Rogers and Courtney Lee added 12 apiece.
Arkansas-Little Rock, which ended the season 20-11, outrebounded WKU 37-36 but shot only 40 percent from the field and was only 3 of 12 from the free throw line. Steven Moore and Matt Mouzy led the Trojans with 12 points apiece.
The first half was not exactly an offensive display, as both teams were sluggish in the early going.
UALR led by four early in the first half, and stayed in front of Western Kentucky for almost 10 minutes before Rogers' 3-pointer put the Hilltoppers up 15-13.
Western Kentucky took advantage of a couple of Trojan shooting dry spells to go on a 12-4 in an eight-minute span to go up by 10 before John Fowler's dunk at the buzzer trimmed the lead to 27-18.
A pair of Rogers' 3-pointers early in the second half helped WKU go up 38-24 with 14:23 to go in the game. But UALR made a run with just under 10 minutes left when Mouzy nailed a pair of 3-pointers to make it 46-40.
That would be as close as the Trojans would get, as the Hilltoppers went on a 13-4 run to go up by 15 and put the game out of reach.
