BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -Carl Lucas had 20 points to lead Mississippi Valley State to a 70-59 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the semifinals of the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament Friday.
The Delta Devils (16-15) will face Jackson State in Saturday's final.
Mississippi Valley State led by 13 points going into the intermission and never led Arkansas Pine Bluff (13-18) get closer than nine points in the second half. The Devils led by 21 points with 4:15 left to play.
The Golden Lions went on a 12-2 run, cutting the Devils' lead to the 11-point final margin on a free throw by William Byrd with 20 seconds to play.
The Devils' Chris Watson had a double-double, with 17 points and 11 rebounds, as MVSU outrebounded Arkansas-Pine Bluff 44-36.
Gavin Montgomery led the Golden Lions with 12 points and Larry Williams helped out with 11 more.
