Sanders is out for the rest of the season for the Royals after suffering a partial tear in his left patellar tendon with a secondary problem of a synovial cyst under the bottom portion of the left knee cap. The right fielder was placed on the disabled list and will undergo surgery to correct the injuries. The Royals recalled utility player Jeff Keppinger to replace Sanders on the roster.
