The Bobcats said Saturday they will pick up the third-season option on May's rookie contract. The decision guarantees May more than $1.8 million for the 2007-08 season.

Analysis: May averaged 8.2 points and 4.7 rebounds in 23 games for Charlotte in 2005-06 before he suffered a right knee injury in December. The 6-foot-9 forward from North Carolina was the 13th overall pick by the Bobcats in the 2005 draft.
