Brady Hoke signs enhanced contract with Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) -Brady Hoke was rewarded for leading Ball State to its best record and its first bowl game since 1996.

Athletic director Tom Collins said Wednesday that Hoke has signed an enhanced contract that will increase his salary to $240,000 a year. It also includes additional incentives and a buyout clause in case he leaves before his contract expires after the 2010 season.

``This school is my alma mater, and to be able to continue to see this program grow is very special,'' said Hoke, a former Ball State team captain. ``We still have a lot of work to do at Ball State, but the commitment the university has shown to help us reach our goals has been outstanding.''

Hoke became coach after the 2002 season and signed a three-year contract extension in 2006. The Cardinals were Mid-American Conference West Division co-champions last season, when they finished 7-6 after a loss to Rutgers in the International Bowl.

The seven wins were the most for Ball State since the 1996 team was 8-4.
