KENT, Ohio (AP) -Julian Edelman threw two touchdown passes and ran for another and Tony Howard had two rushing scores to lead Kent State to a 37-15 victory over Akron on Saturday.

Edelman, who completed 17-of-21 passes for 305 yards without an interception, tossed scoring passes of 15 yards to Brian Bell and 55 yards to Najah Pruden. Edelman also ran for a 4-yard touchdown for the Golden Flashes (3-2, 3-0 Mid-American Conference).

Luke Getsy threw touchdown passes of 39 yards to David Harvey and 36 yards to Jabari Arthur for Akron (2-3), which tied for the MAC's East Division title last year but has lost its first two games this season.

After the Zips forged a 7-2 lead early in the second quarter, Kent State scored the next 28 points on Edelman's run, Howard touchdown runs of 1 and 5 yards and Edelman's pass to Bell.

Edelman led the Flashes with 69 yards rushing on 24 attempts. Howard added 62 yards on 25 carries. Pruden had four catches for 156 yards.

Akron's Dennis Kennedy led all rushers with 91 yards on 16 carries.
