BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) -Monquantae Gibson rushed for a career-high 236 yards and two touchdowns to lead Youngstown State to a 19-3 win over Western Kentucky Saturday.

The Penguins (9-2, 6-1) clinched the Gateway Conference's regular-season title and an automatic berth into the Division I-AA playoffs beginning on Nov. 25.

Youngstown State held the Hilltoppers (5-5, 4-3) to 204 yards of total offense. Western Kentucky failed to score a touchdown for the first time since Oct. 11, 2003.

Gibson, starting in place of injured starter Marcus Mason, had just 285 yards all season before Saturday. He nearly matched it against the Hilltoppers. Gibson carried the ball 43 times and scored on a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs. His second touchdown with 6:39 to play clinched the win.

Brian Palmer added two field goals for Youngstown State. Chris James' second-quarter field goal provided the Hilltoppers with their only score of the day.

The Penguins are off until the opening round of the playoffs. Western Kentucky finishes its season next Saturday against Austin Peay.
