TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -Linebacker Greg Hay recovered a botched punt in the end zone late in the fourth quarter, giving Toledo the game-winning touchdown and completing a dramatic final five minutes as the Rockets edged Iowa State Saturday night, 36-35.

Iowa State's Jamicah Bass scored his second touchdown on a 1-yard run with 5:24 left to play, giving the Cyclones a comfortable 35-24 lead. That immediately began to crumble when Jalen Parmele returned the ensuing kickoff 82 yards for Toledo (1-3).

Iowa State (1-3) failed to move the ball on its next possession, setting up the mistake on the punt.

Toledo's Jake Williams caught six passes for 113 yards and one touchdown, while Parmele rushed for 74 yards on 16 carries.

Iowa State's Bass ran for 134 yards on 34 carries, while quarterback Bret Meyer threw three touchdown passes while completing 24-of-33 for 251 yards with one interception.
