BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) -Western Kentucky scored 24 points in the second quarter en route to a 52-12 victory over Morehead State on Saturday.

The Hilltoppers (7-4) forced the Eagles (7-4) into four turnovers, and ran up 382 yards of total offense. The Eagles struck first, recovering their own onside kick to open the game. Morehead State scored four plays later on a 15-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Brian Yost to junior running back Erick Fitzpatrick for a 6-0 lead.

Western Kentucky would take the lead on their next possession by way of a 16-yard touchdown run by sophomore running back Tyrell Hayden.

It was an historic day for senior wide receiver Curtis Hamilton and senior place-kicker Chris James. Hamilton caught seven balls for 134 yards and two touchdowns, and in the process became the Hilltoppers all-time leader in career receiving yards with 2,251, breaking the old mark held by Jay Davis from 1968-71.

Hamilton broke the record on a 7-yard completion with 5:13 left in the third quarter. Hamilton already owns the career receptions record, which he broke last week against Troy.

James became the program's all-time leader in points with 290, passing the old record of 286 points by Willie Taggart from 1995-98.

Tyrell Hayden capped the game with 16 carries for 151 yards and a touchdown.

Yost went 16-of-34 for 207 yards and two touchdowns with three interceptions. The Eagles were held to 246 yards of total offense.
