NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -Former Tennessee Titans wide receiver Tyrone Calico faces indictment on drunken driving charges after a judge Tuesday sent his case to the grand jury.

The 2003 second-round pick never lived up to the promise of his 6-foot-4 size and 4.34-second speed in the 40 because of injuries. He was released by the Titans in 2006.

Calico was arrested just before 3 a.m. on Feb. 20 and charged with drunken driving and implied consent. Police said Calico weaved over the center line before they pulled him over. He admitted drinking, and refused a breathalyzer test.

Calico played three seasons with 42 catches for 501 yards and four touchdowns before being released prior to the 2006 season after knee and hamstring injuries. He tried out for the New York Giants in 2006, but never signed with another NFL team.

He said during a recess that he was working to clear the charges because his knee is feeling better and he is scheduled to play for Calgary this season in the Canadian Football League.

Calico's attorney, Bobby Ballinger, said the player had been hoping to resolve the charges earlier, but going to the grand jury gives them time to work out the case. Ballinger said they want to make sure there's nothing that prevents him from going to Canada.

``He's focused on school and hoping he can have some success at his profession,'' Ballinger said. ``He wants this behind us.''
