HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) -The New York Jets re-signed veteran cornerback Hank Poteat to a one-year deal Tuesday.

Poteat was an unrestricted free agent. He spent the last two seasons with the Jets and played in every game, notching a career-high 45 tackles while starting nine games. Poteat had the first two interceptions of his eight-year NFL career in consecutive games last season against Philadelphia's Donovan McNabb and Cincinnati's Carson Palmer.

The 30-year-old Poteat is expected to give the Jets' secondary some depth along with starter Darrelle Revis, fourth-round pick Dwight Lowery and veterans David Barrett, Justin Miller and Andre Woolfolk.

A third-round pick out of Pittsburgh in 2000, Poteat has also played for Tampa Bay and New England.
