The Atlanta Falcons traded Duckett to the Washington Redskins in a three-team deal early Wednesday that sent Denver Broncos receiver Ashley Lelie to the Falcons in exchange for Washington's 2007 third round draft pick. Duckett and Lelie were involved in the same deal after being taken with consecutive first round picks in 2002. |

The Redskins had bee shopping for a running back since star Clinton Portis partially dislocated his shoulder in the preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Falcons needed a replacement for No. 3 receiver Brian Finnerman who was lost to a season-ending knee injury in the early days of training camp. Lelie was the NFL's leader in yards per catch in 2004 but held out of training camp this year in hopes of forcing a trade. |

Lefotu was released from the hospital Friday, two days after becoming ill and losing consciousness in his room. Lefotu, an offensive tackle, visited Redskins Park after being released from Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington. Lefotu will be monitored over the weekend at the National Conference Center, where the players are housed during training camp, and will miss the trip to Cincinnati for Sunday's exhibition game against the Bengals. Tyer said Lefotu might be able to return to practice on Tuesday. |

Taylor is being sued by a man who said the NFL player brandished a gun and repeatedly hit him during a fight last June. Ryan Hill filed the suit on June 27 in Miami Dade Circuit Court and is seeking $15,000 in damages from Taylor. The lawsuit states that Hill was bruised, incurred medical expenses and lost wages because of the fight. |

Taylor, 23, reached a deal with prosecutors last month after they agreed to drop felony charges against him stemming from the fight. He pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors in the assault case and was sentenced to 18 months probation. The former University of Miami standout signed a seven-year, $18 million contract with the Redskins after he was drafted in 2004. He has six interceptions and 141 tackles in two NFL seasons. |

Brunell has a small fracture in his left index finger and is expected to miss two to three weeks of offseason workouts. Because the Redskins quarterback is left-handed, he will sit out most of the remaining spring practices although may be ready to return in time for the June 16-18 minicamp. |
