The offensive lineman and 1999 NFL fourth round draft pick had been acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004. He was hampered by a knee injury during his first season with Kansas City and also served a four-game suspension to start the 2005 season for violating the NFL's performance enhancing drugs policy. (Updated 6/16/2006) Analysis: Kansas City reportedly planned to keep Welbourn on the active roster for now in case he changes his mind.
