John Welbourn
Welbourn announced his retirement Thursday from the Kansas City Chiefs. The offensive lineman and 1999 NFL fourth round draft pick had been acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004. He was hampered by a knee injury during his first season with Kansas City and also served a four-game suspension to start the 2005 season for violating the NFL's performance enhancing drugs policy.
(Updated 6/16/2006)

Analysis: Kansas City reportedly planned to keep Welbourn on the active roster for now in case he changes his mind.
