5/11/2008 2:36 PM

QUEBEC CITY (AP) -Andres Ambuhl and Sandy Jeannin scored early and Switzerland went on to defeat Denmark 7-2 on Sunday at the world hockey championships.

Marc Reichert, Thierry Paterlini, Paul DiPietro, Philippe Furrer and Beat Forster also scored for the Swiss, who outshot the Danes 54-20 - including 23-2 in the second period.

Switzerland had built a 6-0 lead in the third period before last-place Denmark finally scored on goals by Morten Madsen and Kim Staal.

Switzerland, which upset Sweden 4-2 earlier in the tournament, moved temporarily into a tie with the Czech Republic for second place in Group E with nine points. The Czechs were to close out round robin play later Sunday against Sweden.
