Andrew Penner (Goaltender) 8/18/2006
NEWS: Penner signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday.
NOTES: Penner was a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets organization since signing as a free agent in 2001, but never appeared in an NHL game. The 23-year-old goaltender played in 40 games for the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League in the 2005-06 season, posting a 20-12-1 record with a 3.25 goals-against average and one shutout.
Marc-Andre Fleury (Goaltender) 8/5/2006
NEWS: Fleury signed a two-year contract Saturday with the Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday. The 2003 NHL No. 1 draft pick agreed to the new deal after the three-year contract he signed following the draft expired. Fleury started most of last season for the Penguins at goalie, finishing with a 13-27-6 record and 3.25 goals-against average.
NOTES: Fleury is 17-41-8 with a 3.36 GAA in 71 career NHL games. He began last season in the AHL playing for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton where he was 10-2 with a 1.57 GAA. He was recalled by Pittsburgh on Nov. 28, 2005 and remained with the team for the rest of the season.
Alain Nasreddine (Defense) 8/3/2006
NEWS: Nasreddine re-signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday, inking a one-year contract.
NOTES: Nasreddine had eight penalty minutes in six games for the Penguins in 2005-06. The defenseman had 12 assists and 71 penalty minutes in 71 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL.
Libor Pivko (Left Wing) 8/3/2006
NEWS: Pivko signed a one-year contract with the Penguins on Wednesday. The left wing was acquired by Pittsburgh on July 19 with center Dominic Moore in a three-team trade that sent a 2007 third-round selection to the Nashville Predators and right wing Adam Hall to the New York Rangers.
NOTES: Pivko has only played in one game in his NHL career with the Nashville Predators during the 2003-04 season. He had 12 goals and 58 assists for Milwaukee of the AHL last season.
Dominic Moore (Center) 8/1/2006
NEWS: Moore, acquired last month by the Pittsburgh Penguins, signed a two-year contract on Tuesday and avoided salary arbitration.
NOTES: The 25-year-old Moore had nine goals and nine assists in 82 games last season with the New York Rangers, his first full NHL season. Moore was one of the Rangers' most-used forwards on their penalty-killing unit and will compete to be the Penguins' third-line center.
Ryan Malone (Left Wing) 7/26/2006
NEWS: Malone was awarded a two-year, $2.75 million contract by an arbitrator on Wednesday. According to Pittsburgh general manager Ray Shero, the Penguins' forward is slated to earn $1.3 million for the 2006-07 season and $1.45 million for the 2007-08 season. Malone earned less than $1 million last season while posting 22 goals and 44 points in 77 games for the Penguins.
NOTES: Malone has 44 goals and 43 assists in 158 games over the last two seasons with Pittsburgh.

Mark Recchi (Right Wing) 7/25/2006
NEWS: Recchi signed with the Penguins on Monday for $2.28 million and will return to Pittsburgh for the third time in his career. The 38-year-old winger was drafted by the Penguins in 1988 and played on Pittsburgh's first Stanley Cup-winning team during the 1990-91 season before he was traded to Philadelphia. After 13 seasons with the Flyers and the Montreal Canadiens, the Penguins signed Recchi as a free agent before the 2004-05 season, which was wiped out by the lockout.
NOTES: Recchi played 63 games for the Penguins last season, totaling 24 goals and 33 assists, before he was traded to the Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes. He became a free agent when the Hurricanes opted not to pick up a one-year option on his contract. Recchi has 484 goals and 1,265 points in 1,256 career games.
Ronald Petrovicky (Right Wing) 7/24/2006
NEWS: The Pittsburgh Penguins signed Petrovicky on Monday.
NOTES: Petrovicky, 29, recorded eight goals, 12 assists and 62 penalty minutes in 60 games last season with the Atlanta Thrashers. The five-year veteran has 38 goals and 48 assists in 311 career games with the Calgary Flames, New York Rangers and Thrashers. He scored a career-best 16 goals with Atlanta in 2003-04.
Brooks Orpik (Defense) 7/23/2006
NEWS: The Penguins re-signed Orpik to a two-year contract on Sunday, one day before the defenseman was scheduled for a salary arbitration hearing. Orpik was drafted 18th overall by the Penguins in 2000.
NOTES: The 25-year-old Orpik had seven goals, two assists and 124 penalty minutes in 64 games with the Penguins last season, his second full NHL campaign.

NEWS: The Penguins re-signed forward Colby Armstrong, a linemate of Sidney Crosby, on Friday. Armstrong was drafted by the Penguins in the first round of the 2001 NHL entry draft.
NOTES: Armstrong was called up Dec. 29 from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL and played in 47 games for Pittsburgh, recording 40 points and 58 penalty minutes.

NEWS: The Sharks traded Ekman to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday for a second-round draft pick next season.
NOTES: kman scored 112 points in 159 games for the Sharks over the past two seasons, playing on San Jose's top line with MVP Joe Thornton and NHL goal-scoring champion Jonathan Cheechoo last year.
Patrick Ehelechner (Goaltender) 7/20/2006
NEWS: The Sharks traded Ehelechner to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday for a second-round draft pick next season.
NOTES: Ehelechner, a fifth-round pick in 2003, played professionally in Germany for the last two seasons.
Dominic Moore (Center) 7/19/2006
NEWS: The Nashville Predators acquired Moore from the Rangers, then traded him to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday in a deal that also sent left wing Libor Pivko to the Penguins for a 2007 third-round pick and right wing Adam Hall to New York.
NOTES: Moore, 25, played in all 82 games for the Rangers this past season and totaled nine goals and nine assists.
Libor Pivko (Left Wing) 7/19/2006
NEWS: Pivko, along with New York Rangers center Dominic Moore, was acquired by the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday for a 2007 third-round draft pick in a deal that also sent right wing Adam Hall to New York.
NOTES: Pivko, a 26-year-old left wing, had 12 goals and 57 assists in 69 games with Milwaukee of the American Hockey League in 2005-06.
Jarkko Ruutu (Left Wing) 7/4/2006
NEWS: Ruutu signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday after recording 10 goals and seven assists for Vancouver last season. The 30-year-old left wing spent his first six seasons with the Canucks, tallying 23 goals, 28 assists and 453 penalty minutes in 267 games.
Mark Eaton (Defense) 7/3/2006
NEWS: Eaton signed a two-year contract with Pittsburgh after recording four points in 69 games for Nashville last season. The 29-year-old defenseman led the Predators with 170 blocked shots.
NOTES: Eaton, a free agent, has 16 goals and 31 assists in 313 career games spanning six seasons with Nashville and Philadelphia.
Aleksey Morozov (Right Wing) 6/16/2006
NEWS: Morozov is reportedly interested in returning to the NHL next season after spending the last two seasons playing in the Russian Super League. The Pittsburgh Penguins right wing will be an unrestricted free agent July 1 and agent Jay Grossman reportedly said Morozov would "definitely return to North America" for the 2006-07 season.
NOTES: Morozov led the Russian League in scoring with 23 goals and 26 assists in 51 games last season.
