NEWS: The Capitals re-signed Clymer to a three-year contract on Friday. Clymer had spent five years in Tampa Bay, but had never scored more than 14 goals in a season before coming to Washington. He helped Tampa Bay win the Stanley Cup in 2004.
NOTES: Clymer, 28, had a productive first season with Washington, finishing with 16 goals and 17 assists. His 33 points in 77 games were good enough for seventh on the team in scoring.

The 34-year-old left wing played for the Philadelphia Flyers the last four seasons, recording 648 penalty minutes, 22 goals and 44 assists. He led the Flyers in penalty minutes each of the last three seasons, including 166 in 2005-06.
NOTES: Brashear led his team in penalty minutes eight times, leading the league with 372 in the 1997-98 season.
Richard Zednik (Left Wing) 7/13/2006
NEWS: Zednik was traded back to his former team, the Washington Capitals, on Wednesday for a third-round draft pick in 2007.
NOTES: Zednik, who spent parts of six seasons with the Capitals from 1995-2001, had 16 goals and 14 assists in 67 games last season, his worst offensive campaign since he joined the Canadiens in March 2001. The 30-year-old Slovak has one more year left on his deal at $1.976 million before becoming an unrestricted free agent next summer. In 579 career games, he has 161 goals and 299 points.
Shaone Morrisonn (Defense) 7/11/2006
NEWS: Washington re-signed Morrisonn to a two-year contract on Monday. The 23-year-old defenseman led the Capitals with 131 blocked shots, while contributing one goal and 13 assists in 80 games. It was his first full year with the Capitals after being acquired from Boston in March 2004.
Sasha Pokulok (Defense) 7/6/2006
NEWS: Pokulok signed an entry-level contract with the Washington Capitals on Thursday. The 20-year-old defenseman was the No. 14 overall pick in the 2005 draft. He scored seven goals and 16 assists in 53 games over the last two seasons with Cornell of the ECAC Hockey League.
Brent Johnson (Goaltender) 7/1/2006
NEWS: The Capitals re-signed Johnson on Saturday.
NOTES: Johnson was picked up on waivers from the Vancouver Canucks last October and played 26 games as the backup to Olaf Kolzig. The 29-year-old goaltender went 9-12-1 with a 3.44 goals-against average. He went 4-1-1 in his last six starts, allowing one goal or less in all four of the victories. One of his top games came on April 1 against the Ottawa Senators when he stopped 46 shots in a 1-0 win.
Alexander Ovechkin (Left Wing) 6/23/2006
NEWS: Ovechkin edged Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby to win the Calder Trophy for NHL's top rookie on Thursday. The Washington left wing was a sensation in his first year, becoming only the second rookie to score 50 goals and record 100 points in a season, joining Teemu Selanne, who accomplished the feat in 1992-93.
NOTES: Ovechkin finished with 52 goals and 106 assists, with some spectacular highlights along the way.
Alexander Ovechkin (Left Wing) 4/19/2006
NEWS: Ovechkin had an assist in Tuesday's 4-1 win over Tampa Bay to finish the season with 106 points, the third-highest total by a rookie in NHL history. The Capitals' forward had 52 goals, which was also third best for a first-year player, and 54 assists on the season.
Alexander Ovechkin (Left Wing) 4/18/2006
NEWS: Ovechkin scored his 52nd goal and had an assist in the Capitals' 6-4 win over the Atlanta Thrashers on Monday. The victory eliminated Atlanta from postseason contention.
NOTES: With the two-point effort, Ovechkin has 105 this season, which is the third-highest total in NHL history for a rookie. The 20-year-old winger has 10 goals and 16 assists in his last 18 games, including goals in four straight.
Alexander Ovechkin (Left Wing) 4/14/2006
NEWS: Ovechkin became only the second rookie in NHL history with 50 goals and 100 points when he scored in Washington's 5-3 loss to Atlanta on Thursday. The star rookie scored his 50th goal at 13:01 of the first period with a shot from the top of the left circle.
NOTES: Teemu Selanne set the rookie record for goals and points, with 76 goals and 132 points in 1992-93. With three games remaining, Ovechkin, who also has 52 assists, has no chance of breaking either of Selanne's records. He is, though, just three goals behind Mike Bossy, who had 53 goals for the New York Islanders in 1977-78.
Alexander Ovechkin (Left Wing) 4/11/2006
NEWS: Ovechkin scored 3:30 into overtime, making him the sixth NHL rookie to reach 100 points in the Capitals' 2-1 victory over the Bruins on Monday.
NOTES: Ovechkin's 49th goal snapped a six-game drought -- matching the longest of his first season. The 20-year-old left wing has four games left to score again and join Teemu Selanne as the only NHL rookies to post 50 goals and 100 points in a debut season.
Chris Clark (Right Wing) 3/19/2006

NOTES: Fata earned one assist in six games with the Thrashers this season. A sixth overall selection in the 1998 NHL draft by the Calgary Flames, Fata will be playing on his fifth NHL team in his seven-year career. He also spent time with the New York Rangers and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Donald Brashear (Left Wing) 3/4/2006
NEWS: Brashear was suspended for one game by the NHL on Friday for instigating a fight with New York Rangers defenseman Darius Kasparaitis. Brashear punched Kasparaitis late in Philadelphia's 6-1 loss Thursday. Kasparaitis stayed down on the ice and didn't retaliate.
NOTES: Brashear has three goals and three assists in 55 games in 2005-06 for Philadelphia. Known for his aggressive play, the 34-year-old left wing ranks ninth among active players with 2,109 career penalty minutes. His 110 penalty minutes this season are 42 more than any other Flyers player.
Alexander Ovechkin (Left Wing) 2/12/2006
NEWS: Ovechkin scored his 36th goal of the season in the Capitals' 6-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. The tally came short-handed and pulled Washington to within 6-2 at 10:07 of the third period.
NOTES: Ovechkin leads all rookies with 69 points in 55 games this season, which is four more than Penguins youngster Sidney Crosby, who registered a goal and an assist in the game to up his point total to 65 (28 goals, 37 assists) in 58 games. In his last 24 contests, the 20-year-old Ovechkin has 18 goals and 17 assists.
